Offical description
The most dangerous place on the planet of Junon, the Desert of the Dead is under the dominion of Ulverick and the Devil Pest monsters. Although it was once a beautiful desert blessed with an oasis, the Devil Pest permeated the desert with malignancy, polluted the oasis water with toxin, and mutated all of the desert's creatures into monsters.
The few humans that managed to survive the Devil Pest invasions could not resist infection by the Devil Pest and became undead zombies. Although Nejeuve Village is just desolate ruins now, a few undead humans still linger there, hoping to warn any approaching Visitors to stay away from the dangers of the desert.
Despite the risks, the Visitors can't ignore the persistent rumors that some kind of wondrous reward, perhaps some final vestige of Nejeuve Village's former majesty, is waiting for those who are brave and strong enough to claim it in the Desert of the Dead.
