Official servers

Beta era

The very first version of any ROSE appeared with the beta version of kROSE. First named "Seven Hearts Online" or "S.H.O.", it became immensely popular with over 46,740 players playing online at the same time. Gravity also spent over 2 million USD on advertising fees for kROSE, including television and internet ads.[1]

The beta version of International ROSE opened in 2004 and closed on August 31st, 2005. Being free-to-play, iROSE was quite popular with thousands of players connected at any given time. Connecting to the server itself was difficult at times and the login-server would often show all 3 channels as "Full".

Although this server had a long period of beta testing and a server wipe in November 2005, it was never officially released. When the beta period ended, development for the game also stopped.

idROSE was opened on March 17, 2008 and is currently in beta testing.

myROSE was recently opened on March 2, 2009 and is currently in beta testing.

P2P era

P2P is an acronym for Pay-to-Play. P2P servers are normally released after a prior Beta phase period of the servers.

Based on iROSE system, it was the second server after jROSE to move to Evo on August 12th, 2006. It was closed in April 25, 2007.

pROSE was based on its very own system soon to be called the "pROSE system" as a naming reference for other servers using the same system. It was closed in August 2007.

euROSE is based on the pROSE system. It was closed in Feb 2006 due to GamesRouter (the actual publisher) going into bankruptcy. The game database was moved to pROSE's Polaris server. Players could still access their account by adding a "EU-" prefix to their account names (e.g. "EU-<account_name>").[2]

naROSE was first based on the pROSE system, then migrated to ROSE Evolution in September 1st, 2006.

jROSE was based on the iROSE system and was also the first to convert to ROSE Evolution. As one of the last remaining official servers, it is now being developed separately from ROSE NA.

F2P era

As of July 29th, 2008, there are no more official P2P ROSE Online servers. All 3 remaining servers now receive funds from their respective Item Mall platforms or optional subscription plans.

On May 1st, 2006, ROSE JP became F2P along with a new paying account-upgrading system: players may decide to get a subscription plan to unlock extra account features such as accessing storage and more.

idROSE has always been free-to-play.

ROSE NA was the last official ROSE Online server to go F2P on July 29th, 2008. The developers decided to convert their business model into one solely based on Item Mall revenues.

Although it is the most recently created server, myROSE has always been free-to-play

Evolution

ROSE Evolution was introduced on 24th August, 2006 (Japan ROSE being the first to migrate to Evolution). This massive update brought a complete revamp of the GUI, materials, skills and crafting system. Major changes included:

ROSE NA

Main article: ROSE NA

ROSE NA is the only fully international ROSE server still active. Since the takeover from Gravity in the development area in 2007, ROSE NA is now being developed separately from the other ROSE servers (ROSE JP, idROSE, ...). This wiki is dedicated to the world of ROSE NA.
