July 20th, 2006: Interview with GM Leonis on RoseOnRadio
GM Leonis was being asked questions regarding the coming Evolution update to ROSE NA in 2006. The interview was taken from one of Roseon-fr.com's forum threads that quoted the event (which couldn't be found anymore on ROSE NA's official forum).[1]

Here is the transcript, made by Genesis, of the interview:
| “ | [DJ]EaTmYsHoRtS: Welcome ladies and gentlemen. This is [DJ]EaTmYsHoRtS, and we are here with the interview with [DJ]Pug and [GM]Leonis.
[DJ]Pug: Hello. Leonis: Hello. [DJ]EaTmYsHoRtS: Alrighty then, let's get through questions.
Leonis: Yeah, actually. The release schedule hasn't nessecarily changed too much...the schedule we put as far as late July or early August is still the same, although right now it's looking to be a little bit more into August than July.
Leonis: Current expectation is for the character stats and skills to be reset because of the drastic change to the leveling system and the skills trees. If there are any other kind of resets or item changes, there will be...like consumbles, books and stuff like that, there will be a compensation given for that. It's still yet to be seen, as we're still setting up the test server for it, but we'll make sure that we have all that information detailed for you guys when we've confirmed it.
Leonis: The faction system is scheduled for further down in the year, approximately November. The clan system is currently being developed on - it was actually delayed to be a part of the initial Evolution update, but it should be along soon after Evolution if everthing goes well.
Leonis: Well as I said the clan system was delayed, but the Luna Clan Field system or the Luna Clan Field itself will most likely be closed off until the actual, full update arrives - that's pretty much it. The current Clan Field on Junon was opened to be available so people could make use of it for the clan system that we currently have.
Leonis: Well as much as everybody would love to have a 24 hour access it's not likely to happen. There is a concern with the Clan Fields because of the items that can drop from that area - they are very specific and rare to that zone. The Gem Quest, just as much of a concern because the items are very highly sought after and very powerful and from a development standpoint for game-balancing it's a concern to not flood the economy with those kinds of items. We are looking at increasing the amount of access times to them but it's being worked to make sure there is an equal balance for the entire economy.
Leonis: Once we get the Evolution test server running, the specific requirements that may be needed to get to Eldeon will actually be posted as part of our update notes. What things to expect once you get to Eldeon are a list of new monsters ranging up to level 180 - not to say that just this map gets new monsters; Junon and Luna will also be recieving new monsters aswell.
Leonis: Well, there will be there initial reset from the update and as far as the presence of the NPC being able to allow that reset, will have to be more or less confirmed once the Evolution version is implemented.
Leonis: Yes, that is one of the changes to the skill system that you will expect to see. It's to help, from what I've seen, with leveling - instead of waiting so many levels to get some skill points, you will now be able to use skill points as you gradually grow and be able to become more powerful with each level rather than wait for spurts.
Leonis: Well, the largest thing, or the first thing you'll immediately notice is the graphical user interface. You'll see that it's changed pretty drastically from what you guys are using right now. Some of the other changes will be the monsters - with new monsters added and also some current monsters having gone under some changes where you'll see miniature versions of them running around on the map. I refer to them as "mini-mobs" but their exact names haven't been determined yet. Also, the initial map 'Adventurer's Plains' will be undergoing a huge environmental look/change, like the map will be actually altered quite a bit. Birth Island will no longer be available; no longer be a part of the initial startup. And probably one of the more complex features that you'll see is the seperation system. It'll probably be the biggest game change addition that you'll see where you can actually decompose or seperate equipment items for special, rare or unique items used for crafting.
Leonis: Later in the year it will be. Right now what I've been told is it's not going to be a part of the initial update for Evolution. The developer schedule does list it for November along with the faction system. I know that there has been screenshots of Castle Gear being posted from other versions - the reason for that is because their version was very different from ours and had Castle Gears available , so that transfered into the Evolution update so they were able to keep their stuff, but as far as it being actually available it wasn't planned on being part of the initial release.
Leonis: Yeah, I can give some good insight to it. The crafting system does go through a fairly nice change. It will be possible for dealers to actually craft blue items this time around. This is actually capable through that seperation system I previously mentioned, where the seperation system will be able to take equipment and split them apart. It's almost like a drop rate, where you have a chance of recieving a rare item based off of what you split, and higher level items will have a higher chance of giving those. They'll be different crafting material list for different weapons and items that you can use. All of that stuff we'll do our best to try and get that stuff detailed and posted somewhere so that it can be available, otherwise you will be able to see the full listing of everything ingame of what is more or less needed for crafting certain items just as it is now.
Leonis: Ah, the item mall. Right now it's a system being looked into. We do expect to have it - we're looking at currently a points system, where you gain points based off your monthly subscription, possibly purchase additional points, and with those points you can exchange them for items listed on the item mall through our website. The specific list of items that will be offered will have to be put up at a later date but the actual prices for everything will have to be reviewed and make sure it's the right prices, and is fair for everybody and available for everybody who wants to take part in it.
Leonis: If not with Evolution, slightly past Evolution. It is intended to be a part of Evolution so...but the exact date hasn't been determined yet - it's still being reviewed as far the specific system we want to use, the exact prices, also the integration to the game servers and how that is going to work; it's going to take a little bit of time, but it is intended to be a part of it. So if it's not with the actual Evolution update itself, soon after.
Leonis: Yeah actually. There will be a couple of maps introduced, some along the future of Evolution, and there will be the additional maps given through Evolution itself - the change to Adventurer's Plains, and there will be the new maps from Eldeon. Along the future of the game, there are also those two other dungeons, a part of the Desert of the Dead, and also there was a dungeon intended to be for the future on Junon, a new dungeon...I forgot the name of the map but it's like a wind temple of some sort where most of the monsters are kind of earth based or pretty Golem-like.
Leonis: You will. There are various new skills, buffs and summon spells specifically for the Clerics and there is also going to be a whole range of new skills that may look familiar but they are also slightly different. The skill tree system was changed pretty drastically; not so much that you won't recognise it, but enough that it will change gameplay on how you currently experience it.
Leonis: Oh, without a doubt. The future of ROSE of course is going to have to implement new quests and lots more things to do. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the future quests, especially the one revolving around the Devil Pest and the men in the red robes.
Leonis: Right now there is actually a possibility of it being a part of the item mall system where you will purchase the access rights to be able to use the 4th and 5th character slots.
Leonis: The platinum section of the storage as it was explained to me was that the tab was intended to be used in side-by-side with the item mall system where items purchased through the item mall will be deposited into that storage section, so in a way, yes you will be able to use it.
Leonis: {Laughs} Well, my job is actually...it's pretty entertaining sometimes - it has it's moments where it's a little stressful but for the most part, my job as the Head GM is to oversee a number of the operations that involve the community and the GM Team. There are alot of things you may see happen as a result of mine and the GM Team efforts, and most of them you probably would just never see. Alot of the things we do is help support the users, perform investigations when they ask for us to look into things - either lost items, or just anything really and aswell as enforcing the game's policy. The game policy issues, when people report them I know that there are alot of people that don't feel that we actually do anything, but believe me there are alot of things done and because of the game being so huge, it's a little difficult for us to be everywhere at the same time. Believe me, we greatly appreciate everybody reporting things and we do our best to attend to them as soon as possible; it's just very difficult for us to get to everywhere at the same time but we do our best to get there and we do take action upon alot of the things that are reported - it's just the things we cannot tell you, yes or no, or what exactly we did, so it's also a privacy issue as far as the other gamers, and just making sure that everybody is happy. During maintenance, typical maintenance for computers is just checking the hardware, backing up all the information, making sure that everything is running very well. Some maintenance can run a little longer based off of things like size of logs for the week or any need for hardware to be changed out, but most of that is handled by the networking and database team, which they give their all for. A typical day for us is just consistent helping of everybody - installation problems, game questions, complaints about other players ingame, but also looking into bug reports. Bug reports is a big part of what we do on a daily basis and we work with the developers as much as possible to get everything recorded, documented and fixed as quickly as possible. So, that's pretty much it. Right now, we're doing alot of work towards the Evolution test server setup so we can get all the really specific questions answered and get all that information for you guys.
nPROTECT/Josh: Ok, thank you Pug. Basically, I love Soccer Pets, and I know alot of users that do to. And like others, I've been saving them up for Evo, and I would like to know if they are going to be changed or removed from the game with the Evolution update? Leonis: Right now, specific items is a little difficult to tell what is going to happen to them exactly. There are a number of consumable items that have a chance of actually being removed because of the changes that are happening to them, for which, we'll definately have some sort of compensation setup for that. But the actual Soccer Pets themselves, I'll have to make sure to pay attention to that item and other summon items during the actual testing to make sure that either they stay or don't or if they function. So, we can have a list of these questions that are confirmed posted at a later time once we get all the testing done. nPROTECT/Josh: Ok, thank you.
Leonis: Hmm, I have a feeling that came from a biased source just to try and improve his self-image. Calanor is actually a really good guy - wouldn't want to date him, but he is a really cool guy. He does alot for the community, he has the best interest of the community in his mind almost at all times. He's there with you guys on the forums and he brings alot of attention of things to me that I may not be aware of nessecarily because be spends to much time on the forums and being a part of the community with you all. So, he does a great job and he's a cool guy. Ah, sexy, no I wouldn't say that, but very cool guy.
Leonis: That's actually one of the first things that we intend on checking once the actual Evolution system is up and running. It is of a great concern of ours because it is a very harmful exploit and one that is not apparently as easy to fix as you would think. We've long been aware of it and we're constantly trying to work with the development team on getting it handled. With the Evolution version, there are as many changes within the client aswell as the server software so, it'll be seen whether it gets attended to or actually fixed up properly. But it is one of the greatest concerns that we have because it is a very abusive and very harmful exploit - one which we don't take very lightly, so if anybody out there catches other people doing this, please report them, because they will get repremanded for it.
Leonis: Well, with the number of items that are being added to the list of inventories, specific named items will have to be checked and gone through. I don't remember seeing any off the top of my head, but it's not that it's not impossible. Also, with those changes of the blue items, like the prefixed names, their actual bonus attributes may also get altered going through the Evolution update, which again we'll try our best to have this detailed information put up on the website so everybody will know ahead of time as much in advanced as possible.
Leonis: It was alot of fun. [DJ]Pug: Yes it was. Shawn, anything to add? [DJ]EaTmYsHoRtS: I would like to thank Leonis for actually helping us do this - a great opportunity. I would also want to thank SpinIn who is our sponsor, RoseTavern.com and Gaming-Life.net. [DJ]Pug: So I think that does it for RoseOnRadio with the live interview with Leonis - we will catch you next time. [DJ]EaTmYsHoRtS: Goodbye. Leonis: Thanks for the opportunity.

August 23rd, 2006: Talk with GM Leonis on RoseOnRadio about Evolution update day
Leonis and the RoseOnRadio team decided to have a talk about the Evolution update which was to occur the following day. Leonis advertised the show to be "unscripted" this time (as opposed to the July 20th one) where community members would freely be able to ask questions regarding the update.[2] Due to the whole event lasting about 78 minutes, no transcript was made to date. The MP3 version of the talk can however be downloaded at: FilePlanet, Genesis Mirror or GamingLife.net [3]
