Item Characteristics
Items have a wide range of characteristics determined by some standard or specific attributes.

Combat attributes
The following are item stats that directly or indirectly influence the outcome of a fight. They are only defined for Equipments.
Attack Power (AP)
Only weapons have this stat. It represents the amount of raw damage that is delivered to the foe on hit. The more AP a weapon has, the more damage is dealt.
Attack Speed (Aspd)
An item's Attack Speed is only defined for weapons. Higher Aspd provides shorter delays between hits, favoring faster kills. Weapons may have 3 types of Aspd: slow, normal and fast. Each of them usually has an augmenting factor (which will increase or decrease the player's total Aspd by a given factor). For example, spears tends to be fast weapons and can have up to Fast +5 Aspd. However, blunt weapons can be rather slow just like the Morning Star with Slow -1.
Accuracy (Acc)
Accuracy is also a weapon-only stat and helps increase hitting success rates. An item's accuracy is closely dependent on that item's durability (see Durability below). In the weapon list of the database, the Dur and Acc shown for each item are standard Dur and Acc every such item has from NPCs selling it (although monster drops of the same item have varying amounts of Dur and Acc). If an item can only be found as a drop, there are no such reference and, therefore, any kind of values for Dur and Acc can be obtained (hence the "Random" value for such items).
Dodge rate
Dodge rate is only defined on armor-type items. The greater dodge rate a player's armor provides, the less chance a monster (or player in PvP) has of hitting the player. Just like Accuracy, an item's dodge rate is tightly related to that item's durability (see Durability below).
Range
Weapons have a Range attribute which tells the player how far away from the target he/she can deliver a blow. Bow- and Gun-type weapons usually have the greatest range while other weapons like axes have a very small reach.
State attributes
Requirements
Some items have a pre-condition requirement to being equipped or used. They mostly apply to weapons, gears and some consumable items. A requirement can be a Job or minimum character level to meet prior to equipping the item, or a good enough amount of MP before consuming or using the item.
Durability
Durability (Dur) is an attribute that directly affects an item's Accuracy or Dodge rate. Basically, the higher an item's durability, the higher accuracy/dodge rate it will have. Accuracy is a weapon stat while Dodge rate is an armor stat.
Life Span
Life Span defines how "healthy" an item is (in percentage). Only weapons and gears have Life Spans. When nearing or reaching 0, such items perform poorly whether it be attack-wise or defense-wise. To restore an item's Life Span to maximum health (100%), repairing it is in order. The rate at which an item degrades depends on the amount of durability this item has. The higher it is, the slower it will degrade. Combat is the main cause of item degradation.
Weight
An item's weight represent the amount of room it takes in a player's inventory (in terms of weight capacity, not allocated slots).
Grade
Some items have a Grade attribute which shows what grade of refining material needs to be used to upgrade the item. An item grade is only defined for Weapons, Armors and Back items.
Price
When buying an item from a NPC, the price is always fixed (but can be slightly decreased with the Discount skill from Dealers) and of standard quality. When selling to a NPC however, the selling price is very low and there are many factors that can influence the price such as life span/durability and stats.
However, when it comes to player shops or player trades, prices are totally subjective and flexible from players to players.
In the item list of the database, the Buy/Sell field tells how much it costs to buy the item from a NPC (without Discount) and how much the NPC would request if selling the item (with Life Span at 100% and basic stats). For the latter, it is sometimes necessary to do an average approximation of the selling price if the given item is a drop-only item for example: it can have a random amount of durability as well as stats and more.
Stats
Items can have 3 types of extra stats:
- Main Stat(s): They are bolded in blue in the item description. Blue Items always have at least one Main Stat (i.e. bolded stat).
- Sub-Stats(s): They are in blue but not bolded in the item description.
- Gem Stats(s): They are displayed after the gem's name in the item description (the item being gemmed of course).
Note that the act of gemming an item will remove any sub-stats the item might have before. Such sub-stats will be replaced by the newly inserted gem's stat(s).
