Talking with NPCs and Quests
Simply click your left mouse button to talk to aa NPC. An illustration of the NPC will be displayed on the screen and a menu of possible "talk" options will be shown. Clicking on the desired menu option will allow the conversation with the NPC to progress. With some NPCs (and given that some requirements are met), going through the menu items can trigger quests. Advancing or completing a quest is also done in the same way; by choosing the appropriate options from the conversation menus.
Buying/Selling
A player may buy or sell items to NPCs. Not all items can be bought from an NPC, as some items are found through drops, crafted items, event rewards or Item Mall items. Some items cannot be sold to the NPC. This is the case for all Item Mall items and the Visitor's Look equipment you receive at the start of the game.
To sell or buy an item simply drag-and-drop items from the NPC Shop window to the Buy/Sell window. When you are done selecting your items and are satisfied with your choices, you can click on "Confirm" to process the transaction to either buy or sell the items. It is also possible to buy or sell on a per item basis without using the buy/sell window. Simply drag-and-drop from either the NPC inventory or yours. The purchasing or selling of the item will be done automatically.
When trying to buy or sell stackable items (such as arrows), you are presented a calculator window where you can enter the desired amount of the item you wish to add to the buy/sell window (or directly buy/sell) right after drag-and-dropping it.
An items price when buying or selling may depend on several factors such as the quality of the item (Lifepsan, level of Discount or Merchandising skill, if any of the player. For more information see: Item Prices.
Repairing
Asking the NPC to "repair items" will change your mouse into a hammer. The player, then, simply needs to click on the items to be repaired located in the inventory window (whether the items are equipped or not). Note that only equipment with a Lifespan can be repaired. Item Mall items do not need to be repaired.
Players may also repair items by using repairing tools which can be bought from some NPCs, usually from ones designated as [Smith].
Refining
Refining is the process of increasing an equipments refine level. While both "upgrading" and "refining" hold equivalent meanings in ROSE, the term used by NPCs in game is "upgrading". When you upgrade or refine Armor, the Defense and Dodge Rate will increase. When you upgrade or refine Weapons, the Attack Power and Accuracy will increase.
Requirements
To refine a piece of equipment, mutliple items may be required/used:
- The item you wish to refine (Equipment piece)
- A corresponding refining material (Talisman, Bindrune, Apotrope, etc...)
- Catalyst material is optional
- Item Mall refine items, such as a Plutorune or Venurune will increase the success chance per attempt.

Appraisal
While hunting it is possible to obtain "unidentified" or "unappraised" equipment as a drop from monsters. Taking the item to an appraisal NPC (usually [Gypsy Jewel Seller]) will help reveal bonus stats for the item when you appraise your item or your item is identified. If you are not satisified with the bonus stats you received, you can purchase a Re-Roll Hammer from the Item Mall and it will generate new bonus stats. You may continue this process as many times as you'd like, until you obtain bonus stats you like.
Some possible identifiable stats included: Dexterity 6, Intelligence 6, Strengh 6, Concentration 6, Sense 6, Attack Speed 8, Magic Resistance 24, Attack Power 10, Movement Speed 20, Charm 20 and more!
